Understanding that interest in levels of authenticity, budgets, and other
factors apply, the following
list contains information on venders (sutlers) that offer a wide range of
products for the Civil War
hobbiest. Some of the listed vendors provide products that are among the
very best available to the
hobby, using construction techniques, materials, and patterns as close as
possible to originals. Others
on the list provide products that are of good quality, but use modern
construction techniques, materials,
or patterns. Recruits should read over the uniform guidelines,
and standards listed elsewhere on this
web site before making any uniform purchases. Recruits should
take note that not all items for the
listed sutlers meet uniform standards. If in doubt, or if
purchasing a product from a vendor not listed,
recruits should visit the contacts page and verify the
item before purchase. It should also be noted
that several of the sutlers in this list do not produce
these goods full time. Many have day jobs and
make items only when ordered. Thus the wait time for top
quality goods can be several months - plan
accordingly.
